RPI 5/19/2010

The Cajuns' RPI dropped .0040 due to the loss at McNeese State last night. While the result was a drop of only two spots in the ordinal rankings, the loss did bring the Cajuns much closer to some of the teams immediately below them. The Cajuns are a mere .0021 away from the #41 spot. It is possible that a single loss this weekend will not keep the Cajuns in the RPI Top 45. More on that later ...

Northwestern State continues to remain outside of the Base RPI Top 75, dropping a spot to #79 after last night's win over ULM. Their RPI actually dropped .0004 after last night (but there are other factors than simply the game vs. ULM).

That's why every win is important, and why I get soo upset with the way Tony handles the midweek out of conference games.

Do you think if we take 2 of 3 from ULM this weekend that we are in a regional regardless of what we do in the conference tournament?

How did he mismanage or mishandled last nights game? What would u have done differently

Yea, but you're not looking at the big picture. If Tony needs to give a couple of guys rest after playing 3 this weekend and soon to be playing an earlier series (Thu through Sat) in order to avoid any possible injury, etc in the coming weekend and conference tournament, then that's what he has to do. His pitching choices are how they should be. You need all kinds of arms if you want to win the conference tournament, which is one of the goals along with winning the regular season. You cant just have some of these guys coming in a SBC tournament game without pitching for 3 weeks.

Every game matters, but you have to balance the consequences of your decisions. Cook is usually our Sunday guy, but Tony wants to move him to the 4th spot in midweek. Well you know what, Cook gave up runs last night. Its not like he started a random guy.

Bottom line is, if we take care of business in the important games, then Tony's decisions were sound. Get upset all you want, but hopefully we can agree that Robe undoubtedly knows what goes on with the RPI and knows far more than any of us about his players and their needs.

I'm pretty sure Brian has said before that he believed .500 ball would be good the rest of the way.

Bottom line is mike is a veteran and didn't have a good outing. It's not like he started someone that is still developing, or is a project. All the other guys threw well. And offensively we had 2 guys got a start that held there own. So I'm confused how robe mishandled this mid week game

I agree. Cook has got to be a stopper in that situation. He's pitched pretty well, lately, but I'm disappointed in his effort last night.. I don't really trust the guy in critical times.

Exactly. In another thread were complaining about a lack of depth and then complain about not playing starters during the mid-week. At some point these guys have to get on the field and play the game.

But hey this game was on a Tuesday wasn't it ? Tuesday games don't count. :D
