Marathon road trip ends today for Lady Cajuns at Lamar
<blockquote><p align=justify>BEAUMONT, Texas — The long and winding road finally ends for Louisiana’s women’s basketball squad tonight.
The Cajun women play their 10th straight road game in a season-opening stretch when they face Lamar in a 7 p.m. contest at the Montagne Center. The game will air locally over KPEL-AM (1420) beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Louisiana is 4-5 on its marathon road swing and won its last outing, a 62-56 victory at Coastal Carolina back on Dec. 20 prior to a holiday break. Three of the five losses have been by four or fewer points, one in overtime.

Anna Petrakova had 23 points and 19 rebounds, the most boards by a Cajun player since 1988 and only two short of the school record, in the win over Coastal Carolina.
The 6-3 junior center has led the squad in scoring in each of the last five games and is averaging 17.8 points and 11.2 rebounds, ranking second in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring and first in rebounding.
Fellow frontliner Tiffany Washington is the other twin-digit scorer (10.0) and is second on the team in rebounding (8.8).
Lamar’s Lady Cardinals are 3-6 after beating Spring Hill 66-58 Saturday in their last outing, a win that snapped a four-game loss streak.
After tonight’s game, the Cajuns finally come home Saturday to open a four-game homestand and open Sun Belt play against Denver in a 2 p.m. contest at Long Gym.
