East Ridge’s Glass signs with Louisiana

When East Ridge pitcher Buddy Glass put a pen to his national letter of intent Wednesday, he was putting an end to a recruiting process that wasn’t always a whole lot of fun.
“There were a lot of ups and downs to the recruiting process, and I talked to a lot of people who waited until the season was over, and they said that it was a lot of pressure,” Glass said after signing to play his college ball at Division I Louisiana-Lafayette. “But I also wanted to make sure that it was the right fit. I didn’t want to sign just to sign.”
Glass, the Knight’s number one starter last season, feels like he has definitely found the right fit. Tony Robichaux, the Ragin’ Cajuns head coach, is also the pitching coach, and that fact had a great deal to do with Glass’ decision.
Glass and his parents, Lisa and John, wanted a school where there wouldn’t be a great deal of turnover with assistant coaches, specifically pitching coaches. With Robichaux serving in dual roles, the decision to attend Louisiana became that much easier.

“We went up there in September, and it was a beautiful place with great people. And they love their baseball there,” said Glass. “Their average home attendance is 2500. They went to the College World Series in 2000, and with Coach Robichaux being the pitching coach, it’s like a pitcher’s heaven to play there.”
Glass joins Umatilla catcher Jonathan Lucroy in signing with the Ragin’ Cajuns this week. Glass and Lucroy played together on the Orlando Scorpions, a Central Florida traveling team.
