If as the SBC commissioner stated they want to preserve the bowl system, then the bowls and universities deserve to have some influence in choosing each other instead of being 100% preordained. Appalachian St. as SBC champ should have a voice in either making the 750 mile trip to NOLA or if NOLA Bowl agrees, let them go to Orlando or Charlotte, or some other bowl attractive to their fans. The current SBC commissioner actually seems to be a placeholder until we actually can secure a true up and coming one.
