How much $ does it take to buy a quality home game?
Is the amount required to get a visiting team with drawing power the same as what UL gets paid for playing UCLA? More? Less?
What would it cost to get at least one quality out of conference opponents in the Cajun Dome every year?
Re: How much $ does it take to buy a quality home game?
If I'm guessing Turbine, more. UCLA actually helps the visitors RPI and most years we would hurt it. Why would Oakland play us for the same amount they could receive from a national power.
Re: How much $ does it take to buy a quality home game?
To answer the question, it would cost about $60-70 grand to get a SWAC or SLC school.
The Cajuns got paid 90 for that trip to UCLA.

How much does it cost to host our own tournament? We could call it, oh, I don't know, something like, "The Bayou Classic." We could host teams like, Fresno St., Murray St., Florida, Georgia.

---Post hits the spot---and along with Geaux, Swamp, etc---the Bayou Classic is gone from its UL home!!!

Maybe we should be digging into the root cause of this issue more. Why the hell does it cost so much to play a basketball game?

So, it looks like we are talking in the neighborhood of $100,000.

So what would the game have to draw, above a standard crowd, to pay for itself? 10,000? 5,000?
Re: How much $ does it take to buy a quality home game?
A lot more. At fifteen dollars a ticket you'd need 6.66 k fans. Remember I believe we only get the ticket, apparel, and novelty revenue. The dome gets the rest.

I have no idea. If we have to pay Nicholls St. (SLC) $70,000 and we draw less than 4,000; are we making money? I don't know how many season tickets are sold and at what price. But, at and average price of $15 for 4,000 fans, that is only $60,000.
