Both coaching staffs agreed upon the decision in order to better prepare for their team's respective weekend series. With inclement weather a possibility in the region later in the week, the coaching staffs wanted to have an adequate number of days of outdoor preparation prior to the weekend.

RPI addition through subtraction
Makes sense not to play it , but why schedule the game in the first place?
If I were a very smart coach of a highly ranked mid-major team I might have some verbiage in a contract to say that if your RPI is below XXX that I have the right to cancel the scheduled game to be made up in a later year.
SEC/PAC/B12 don't have to worry about these types of things due to fact that their overall conference RPI numbers will always prop up any midweek games.
Sometimes it's hard to see into the future. Perhaps they thought SHSU would be better this year and beneficial to the schedule.Quote:
