Cajuns defense has to find a cure and fast
To understand just how bad UL’s pass defense has been in recent weeks, watch a few quarterbacks go through a pro day workout sometime.
If they’re going through a pro day workout, they are likely at least a marginal NFL prospect. Yet even going against nothing but the climate-controlled air of an indoor practice facility, they’ll find a way to fire incomplete passes.

As much as I hate having this written about us, I hope the coaches read this.

I'm not laying this on Willis b/c its pretty obvious our defensive woes are across the board but months ago the reigning national champions wanted him on the staff? So evidently he has some x and o smarts, even if he was going to just head the lb corps at fsu, but still makes me ask yet again W.T.F FELLAS?
Re: Cajuns defense has to find a cure and fast
If this is supposed to be Hud's best team, why does it feel like we've time traveled back to the early 2000s?

Honest and to the point without being disrespectful, good job Luke.
Re: Cajuns defense has to find a cure and fast
Our coaches have little to fear. We've still got a huge group of emotionally frantic sunshine pumpers about to chime in and claim that all we've been seeing is these gigantically bigger and better athletes make our great program look bad... temporarily.
We don't have a porous defense... and TB's throwing motion and instincts are just fine.

I've noticed the first thing said about defense is always "we have to get turnovers" is that code for "we wont be able to stop anyone"

Thanks Luke, your article is "crystal clear". We have two weeks to find guys who want to play. All this talk of a "bigger bowl" & double digit wins is over. We need some drastic changes just to salvage this season. Even the New Orleans Bowl is now looking like a "stretch".

Focusing on turnovers is just the famous media interview out for coaches. Of course turnovers are devastating... both directions. So are touchdowns. But, it's been shown that if a coach says, "We didn't score as many points as they did."... fans get slightly offended. They've found that 82% of the fans (the ______es) don't react negatively when coaches say, "we lost the turnover battle" and "we didn't execute". You'll even hear the fans echo that stupidity leading up to the next game.

I will say the defense looked a lot better in the 2nd half when we started blitzing often. But that was the first time in 12 quarters of football.
They also seemed to play better with Javante Watson and Tracy Walker at CB. But Jesus they need some work. We also found a way to pressure Boise's QB who had only been sacked 6 times all season and we got 4 or 5 sacks.
I think people are still looking past our most glaring concern and laying blame on the result and not the cause. QB play has been and remain our largest problem. With good to great QB play the defense will look a hell of a lot better. It is hard to win when you can't score a damn offensive TD against a first team defense.
