It was only the fourth meeting between the programs since the 1944-45 season and the first since LSU's 81-62 win on Dec. 17, 2005.
UL last beat LSU in a 60-37 win on Feb. 21, 1944.
Health issues
There was some good news and bad news for the Cajuns aside from Wednesday's final score.
Last season's starting point guard Randell Daigle scored a career-high 24 points in his second game back since breaking his right hand in the preseason. The junior guard had 16 points in Monday's 89-62 loss at Tennessee.
Travis Bureau, who missed the previous two games with a groin injury, scored 13 points. The sophomore guard entered the week third in the Sun Belt in scoring and second in 3-point shooting percentage and 3-pointers made per game.
Courtney Wallace scored five points in 15 minutes off the bench. The junior forward had been nursing an ankle injury.
But junior forward Jeremy Barr barely played, seeing one minute of court time. Barr, who started five games earlier in the season, has been struggling with an unknown illness for the past few weeks.
Odds and Ends
UL is now 0-4 on the road this season. The Cajuns have lost those four games by an average of 19 points. Their previous three road losses were by double digits. That included a 30-point loss at Utah Valley on Nov. 22, a 17-point loss at Alabama on Dec. 7 and a 27-point loss at Tennessee on Monday ... The Cajuns are now 4-1 this season when scoring at least 70 points. They are 0-7 when failing to hit the 70-point mark.
