Scooter Rogers appreciates having the same mailing address for the second consecutive year.
The senior cornerback at UL spent his first year after graduating from Mosley High in Florida at Hinds Community College in Mississippi. He later earned second team All-America honors at Fort Scott Community College before joining the Ragin' Cajuns.
Before UL's preseason camp ended, Rogers spoke with The Daily Advertiser about his hair, this season and his future.
<b>Question: </b>What are you excited about the most going into this season?
<b>Answer: </b>Everybody's been working hard this summer, getting bigger, stronger and faster. I just want to see what kind of players we really have.

Q: Last season you finished with 24 tackles after playing in all 12 games. What did you work on improving the most during the offseason?
A: I worked on a lot of man coverage and getting my feet better. I also worked on my back-pedaling. We did ladder drills and cone drills for that.
Q: At UL you wear No. 13. Why did you pick that jersey number?
A: I wore No. 6 before I got here, but (senior quarterback) Mike Desormeaux has that number now. So I ended up with No. 13. I kind of got stuck with it.
Q: Everybody has something interesting about them. What is something most people don't know about you?
A: I like to dance. I can play basketball. I averaged 20 points per game, but I didn't play my senior year to concentrate on football. I thought I could really excel playing football in college.
Q: You earned all-state honors at Mosley High in Florida before becoming a second team All-American at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas. How did you end up going to Kansas?
A: Out of high school I didn't qualify to go Division I, so I went to Hines Community College in Mississippi. I played one year there and then transferred to Fort Scott.
Q: How did you end up playing at UL?
A: My high school coach told me he knew (UL secondary) coach (Hurlie) Brown. He asked me to check him out. He's a real good dude. He takes care of his players. I came on a visit and liked everything here. He will help you become the best player you can be.
Q: What are Florida high school football players known for?
A: We're known for our speed and quickness. It must be the water. Or maybe it's because we're running on sand on the beaches.
Q: I noticed you're sporting dreadlocks. Why do you wear your hair like that?
A: In Florida, most of the people wear dreads. I'd say 80 percent of the people have them there. That's just something we do down in Florida.
Q: What's a hobby you enjoy away from football?
A: Playing video games, like Madden and NCAA Football. I like to play Halo, too.
Q: You're listed as a general studies major. What are your plans for the future?
A: I really hope I can go to the next level. But right now, I don't really know what I want to do.
