Has Brittany reinjured herself?
She didn't seem injured when I saw her warming up behind the third base bleachers. The ball was popping the mitt. I know the other two pitchers are pitching very well, but if she is indeed not injured, Cuevas deserves more respect and playing time.
It is good to know facts, before making statements about respect. Cuevas has continued to have problems with her shoulder and has continued to get treatments during the week. The staff pitches her when she tells them she feels good. Until today, she hadn't pitched since 4-12. THE DECISION IS HERS!
Which is why I said "if" she's not injured. Thanks for the information. This is the first I've heard that she's still nursing an injury.
Cuevas looked very good today. Pitched 3 innings of no hit and K'ed 5 of the the 9 batters she faced.

On Sunday, for the first time in nearly a month, Brittany Cuevas donned her protective mask and toed the pitching rubber in a game for UL's softball team.
Count senior Brooke Brodhead among those relieved to see the sophomore throwing again.
"I'm glad she's back," Brodhead said after Sunday's 10-0 win by the Ragin' Cajuns over UL Monroe at Lamson Park. "We're going to need her when we get to the postseason.
"We've got her back on defense."
UL's defense, though, got few fielding opportunities in the mercy-rule win. Starter Donna Bourgeois and Cuevas combined for a one-hit shutout. After tossing two innings and giving up the game's lone hit, Bourgeois was replaced in the third by Cuevas.

Cuevas showed signs of returning to her freshman form in her 16th appearance of the year - and first since April 12. She fired three perfect innings. She struck out five. She retired the other four batters on two pop-ups and two fly balls.
Here's the scary thing: She got better as the game went on. She struck out the final four batters she faced - including all three in the fifth.
It was her first win since she pitched a perfect game in a 6-0 win over Grambling on April 1.
"It felt great to be back out there," said Cuevas, now 5-2 this year. "It was a lot of fun to be out there with my team."
Not everything this season has been fun for Cuevas, who last year was the Sun Belt's freshman of the year. She ranked in the top 10 nationally with 31 wins - the most by a Cajun freshman.
But last season ended on a low note for UL. Cuevas broke down physically near the end of the year as the Cajuns lost in the College Station Regional. A preseason shoulder injury then slowed her progress coming into this year.
After missing the first two weeks of the season rehabbing her shoulder, Cuevas made 15 appearances from Feb. 23-April 12. Included in those games were narrow losses to then-No. 3 Texas A&M (1-0) and then-No. 7 Arizona (2-0). That did not include a gem of an outing in a 1-0 exhibition loss to Team USA on March 20 in which she allowed only four hits and an unearned run.
Her season was put on hold after getting only one out on April 12 in a start against South Alabama. For the next three weeks she threw bullpen sessions while trying to get 100 percent healthy before returning Sunday.
While Cuevas was recovering, freshmen Ashley Brignac and Donna Bourgeois stepped in and emerged as two of the Sun Belt's top pitchers. Bourgeois led the conference in ERA (0.96). Brignac finished second in strikeouts (261) and wins (26).
Now it appears all three pitchers are healthy - something UL co-coach Michael Lotief has been waiting for this year. The plan is to have all three pitchers healthy and at their best for the postseason, he said.
Cuevas said all she's worrying about is being prepared when her next opportunity arrives.
"The coaches know what's best for the team, and what they decide is what's best," Cuevas said. "I just need to be ready when the team needs me."
