JONESBORO (2/8/08) — Arkansas State’s women’s tennis team is looking to bounce back with a win when Louisiana, a Sun Belt Conference foe, comes to town Saturday. The two teams square off at noon at Jonesboro’s Allen Park.
“Louisiana-Lafayette will probably be the best team we will play so far,” said ASU Head Coach Marcia Williams. “They will be another challenge for us.”

ASU, 2-2 overall, has lost the last two matches to Texas-El Paso and Northwestern (La.) State and is looking to break that streak. ULL brings in a 2-1 record after defeating McNeese State, 7-0, Feb. 4.
The Lady Indians hope to counter, though, with some strong play of their own. Three players are 3-1 in singles play, including Paula Chelminska at No. 2, Roné Van Wyk at No. 3, and Reneé Branker at No. 5. In doubles, Chelminska and Maria Oprea are a perfect 4-0 in the No. 2 spot.
“We’re hoping for good weather and everyone will come out and watch us play,” said Williams.
