EatLafayette Dish of the Day: Café Habana City’s Ropa Vieja
In English, the name of today’s Dish of the Day literally means “old clothes,” but the taste is far from anything ready for Goodwill. The shredded beef, classic Cuban dish is made of flavors influenced by settlers in Cuba from the Canary Islands and the name was given for the dish’s comparison to well-worn, torn clothing. The beef is cooked in a red sauce with bell pepper, onion, and spices and served along side black beans and rice, and fried plantains.
