Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team announced Wednesday, April 26, the signing of left-handed pitcher Brent Solich for the 2006-07 school year.
Solich, who is currently attending Manatee Community College in Bradenton, Fla., was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 43rd round of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.
The southpaw leads Manatee (25-13), one of the premiere junior colleges in Florida, with 60 innings pitched. He is 4-3 with nine starts, fanning 53 batters, while walking only 16.

Before attending Manatee, Solich played at Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton. He was a teammate of current New York Met Lastings Milledge, who was a first round draft choice.
Recruited heavily Manatee, he chose to join the Ragin’ Cajuns over Tennessee and College of Charleston.
Solich will join the Cajuns in the fall of 2006 with two years of eligibility remaining.
