Senior Kyle Clement was perfect at the plate and drove in the game-winning run as the Bayou Boys battled back with a 3-1 decision to even the Ragin' Cajuns Fall World Series at one game apiece on Wednesday night at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
First pitch for the rubber match of the series is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Tigue with the Swampers holding home field advantage.
Clement was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Bayou Boys outhit the Swampers 6-3 in the contest.
Starter Jevin Huval picked up the victory for the Bayou Boys throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, while freshman Harrison Fife earned the save with a scoreless inning in relief striking out the side. Sophomore Reagan Bazar also had a strong outing on the mound for the Bayou Boys throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
The Bayou Boys took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Nick Thurman brought home Blake Trahan on a ground ball to third base. Trahan reached on a one-out walk and then moved to third on a single to right by Clement.
Clement extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third on an RBI double to the left center gap. Shortstop Kennon Fontenot doubled to left center to lead off the inning.
In the top of the fourth, Greg Davis scored on a wild pitch by Riley Cooper to cut the lead to 2-1. Davis reached on a one-out walk and then advanced to third after a balk and a wild pitch.
Clement added an insurance run for the Bayou Boys in the bottom of the fifth on a single down the right field line scoring Trahan from first to make the score 3-1.

The Swampers used a five-run fifth inning to take game one of the Ragin' Cajuns baseball Fall World Series defeating the Bayou Boys 5-4 in seven innings on Tuesday evening at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
Adam Angelle had the only multi-hit performance of the day going 2-for-3 for the Bayou Boys, while Kennon Fontenot drove in two of the squad's four runs.
Joe Robbins led the way offensively for the Swampers with a double and two RBI. Dylan Moore picked up the victory throwing 1.2 innings and Eric Carter was credited with the save throwing a scoreless inning with three strikeouts.
Will Bacon had a solid outing for the Bayou Boys throwing 3.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts in a start.
The Bayou Boys broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth on a two-run single to left by Fontenot scoring Tyler St. Philip and Brock Keener. Later in the inning, Adam Angelle scored on a wild pitch by Moore to give the Bayou Boys a 3-0 advantage.
The Swampers answered in the bottom of the fifth exploding for five runs on four hits. Robbins cut the lead to 3-2 on a two-run double to left center. In the next at bat, Stefan Trosclair doubled to left to score Robbins to even the contest at 3-all. After Trosclair stole third base, he came in to score on balk by Wyatt Marks to give the Swampers a 4-3 edge. Greg Davis pushed across the final run of the inning on an infield single to make the score 5-3 Swampers.
In the top of the sixth, the Bayou Boys pulled within a run on a one-out, bases-loaded single up the middle by Angelle. Moore ended the threat though getting two straight pop ups to end the inning.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team jumped five spots in the Collegiate Baseball Poll to earn the school's first ever No. 1 ranking for any sport, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced on Monday.
"I'm most proud of this ranking for the university," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "A lot of hard work has gone into this over the years. I give a lot of thanks to the boosters and alumni that worked hard here at the university to get us to this point. I give credit to the president and athletic director and the whole athletic department because the other coaches are also trying to make their sports the best in the country. This is a big honor for the university, and we do everything that we do for the name on the front of our uniform."
The Cajuns also saw record high rankings in the Baseball America poll coming at No. 4 and Perfect Game ranking at No. 3. The team ranks sixth in the USA Today Coaches Poll, while the NCBWA rankings will be released later today.
"We are only a third of the way through the season and not much is given at this point," Robichaux added. "We are going to have to earn the rest of the way, because we want to be there at the end."
Louisiana continues a nine-game homestand with five games at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field this week starting with a pair of mid-week games against in-state opponents as Northwestern State comes to town on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns host Southern University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Tigue.
